Firehouse Emergency Shelter

As we create a building, we believe that architectural design can change and improve a person's life for the better. In accordance with The City of Birmingham’s ten year plan to end homelessness, the new Firehouse provides a safe harbor for compassionate care to the chronically homeless men in our community. This building houses programs that restore dignity, respect and hope to all who enter its doors. The new facility contains large bunk rooms, separate youth, day, and sick housing, dining facilities, a large administration suite, offices for case managers and exam rooms, and a landscaped interior courtyard. The funding for the project was raised though extensive multi-year fundraising efforts by the Firehouse Ministries team. We recognize that capital funding is limited and maintenance and operations budgets are usually tight. Bringing those realities into harmony leads to highly skilled project delivery for public institutions. We understood our responsibility to be good stewards of the public funding to create an environment that serves the needs of the client and be a facility Birmingham can be proud to call their own.
